Manheim Gardens Legacy Society

Would you like to create a legacy for the future?

When you designate a planned gift to the Manheim Park Garden
Conservancy, you will be invited to join the Manheim Gardens Legacy
Society. Founded by our generous donor, Richard Ong, our Legacy Society
is a community of generous supporters who are creating an endowment
for continued support for the mission of Manheim Park Garden
Conservancy.

Manheim Gardens is one of the oldest and largest community gardens in
Kansas City, and features a permaculture food forest, flock of chickens,
ducks, and turkeys, over an acre of food growing space, a stage for
community performances, a high tunnel hoop house, native plant gardens,
gathering space for parties and meetings, and a thriving culture of
volunteers and neighbors who make it all possible. There are several ways to
give and help support this vibrant community in Midtown.

Wills and Living Trusts
Charitable bequests made through wills or revocable living trusts are a
simple way to support the Gardens. Bequests can reduce estate taxes,
are flexible, and are easy to arrange.

Retirement Plan Assets
For many individuals, donating some or all the assets from an IRA, 401(k), or
other qualified retirement plan, is an easy option. Gifts can be made through
your estate or even during your lifetime.

Tax-Free IRA Contributions
The Tax Relief Act allows individuals over the age of 70-1/2 to donate as
much as $100,000 from their IRAs and Roth IRAs to nonprofit organizations
tax-free. These distributions count toward the required minimum annual
distribution of IRA holders who are 70-1/2 or older. If contributed directly to a non-profit organization, the donor is not required to pay income taxes on
the withdrawal.

Other Options
As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Manheim Park Garden
Conservancy gratefully accepts alternative contributions such as: real estate,
annuity contracts, tangible personal property, life insurance, and U.S.
Savings bonds.
